A visit from Spitfire Audio

If you are into making music, especially if you do any composing work for film and tv, chances are that you may have heard of Spitfire Audio. They are a leading company in the making of sample libraries, tools that many of us rely on, both for temp work and composition and even for final production. 

Through my friend and studio neighbour Ólafur Arnalds, I got to meet Chris Hanson, one of the two founders of the company, which was here in Iceland for one of their popular collaboration projects with Ólafur. 

We operate from a studio cluster of 21 recording studios of all sizes and shapes in the old fish packing harbour of Reykjavík called E7. Chris was interested in knowing more about how our cluster works, so he interviewed me, Ólafur and mixing engineer Addi 800 on the subject: 

Then he interviewed all of us separately for Spitfire's amazingly informative and fun 'Creative Cribs' collection of studio visits. Be warned, this gets techy and nerdy quite fast, if you're not into gear and music technology, but if you are, you're in for a treat:

Finally I would reccomend subscribing to Chris Henson's own YouTube channel, which is highly informative and full of insight for people that make and record music. When I grow up, I want to know to bend time like Chris, which works at least 53 hours every day, manages to help run a fast growing company, travels around the world, composes lots of great scores, and still manages to publish his increasingly popular vlog.
